The Vegetarian Butcher

Farm

Farmers Henry & Alyson Gilman began with 4 hens and a rooster in 2006. As of June 2015, our barnyard boasts:
  • Lady Flannery, our champion milker alpine goat
  • Mama Tips & Blancita, daughters of Flannery
  • Lady Bug, granddaughter of Flannery
  • Tiny & Tina, son & daughter of Tips, great grand kids of Flannery
  • Hito, Menana, Sebastian & LeRoy, our guard llamas
  • 40 hens & growing chicks (various names)
  • Beto, our young & viral rooster
  • Oso Sweet, Sally & Cora, farm dogs
  • Gibby & Mrs. T, barncats

In 2002, Alyson met Henry who came with sons. Alyson doesn't eat meat. Henry & the boys love meat. The family's consumption of meat inspired us to learn more and try to feed our family from our land.

Alyson has the not so common combination of being a vegetarian and a butcher.

Collective

local collective is on a mission to: connect people with local food and the farmers who grow the food.

Three ways to join:
  • Eater
  • Producer
  • Apprentice

Eaters receive a share of the farm goods from our Producers and help support our local food system.

Producers are farmers growing whole, healthy and beautiful foods who receive payment for the shares they provide to the Members.

Apprentices learn the farming trade from a Producer and receive a share of farm goods for their time and energy.
